Meet the Doctors

Marcela Mujica, DMD, MSD

Dr. Mujica

I am honored to be a pediatric dentist.

It is important to offer children a specialized “for me” tailored approach to dental care. There are many reasons why this is crucial, beyond the behavioral approach: for me, it’s about making kids smile while also finding and addressing problems before they manifest into worse issues.

It is important to address a patient’s clinical needs and their emotional wellbeing. By making those the top priorities, I make visits more comfortable, decreasing a child’s anxiety and building trust. In this, I am able to turn even the most apprehensive child into a fan of visiting the dentist!

Oral healthcare is the foundation of overall physical and emotional health. I want to set our patients up for success in life and I want to see them smile for a long time!

LaJoi Wiggins, DMD, MSD

Dr. Wiggins

I can remember two moments in my life. The moment I choose to become a dentist, and then the moment I choose pediatric dentistry as a career. Fun. Fact: I originally wanted to be a Veterinarian (because I love animals!), but over time but excitement for it withered. It wasn’t until I introduced to dentistry that the sparks flew.

Since I decided to devote my life to children, I have never been happier. Working with children has always been a fun experience, and I have never felt more connected to something so much as I have been with children and dentistry. Combining those two for me has been a magical experience that has brought my life so much joy.

I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with children, in particular children with special health care needs. I look forward to creating a loving environment where children can develop and maintain healthy smiles that will transition into adulthood.

Venesa Crumpley, DDS

In the beginning, I worked with all ages treating a variety of dental issues.  In a part time position, I spent time treating children and adolescents in a community health clinic in an underserved area of North Carolina. It didn’t take long to know that this was where I belonged.

Over the next couple of years, I would spend countless hours in continuing education dedicated to children’s needs and ultimately, I would solely focus on dental care for children.  I have had the opportunity to treat children in several underserved areas in the Southeast and have learned from some very talented Pediatric Dentists for nearly 20 years.

It is extremely rewarding to hear the laughter and see the smiles of our incredible patients.  I feel very privileged to learn and grow with every new smile that I meet.
